We have had an extremely hot and dry summer in Texas this year. These weather conditions can cause the soil around your house to shrink away from your foundation and can cause your foundation to move. Indications of slight foundation movement could be cracks in your exterior brick, cracks in your interior drywall, cracks in caulk joints, and poorly fitting doors around your house.
You can use soaker hoses around your foundation to prevent too much movement in your foundation during these times. Merely watering your grass may not be enough to prevent the soil from pulling away from your foundation. Watch the following video for the proper steps on using soaker hoses in this manner.
